pull the plug on porn

I put this letter in the mail today and hope to hear back.

Dear Mr. Allen Smith,

My husband and I have had the great  privilege of staying at several of your amazing hotels.  We think the Four Seasons are the most luxurious resorts on the planet.

His company often uses your properties as the location for their incentive trips, so we’ve been blessed to stay at the Four Seasons in Maui; on the big island of Hawaii; in Munich, Germany;  in Costa Rica; in Dublin, Ireland; and on the island of Nevis.

We just recently stayed at the Four Seasons in St. Louis, Missouri for three fabulous nights to celebrate my birthday.  We had a spectacular corner room that looked out over the Mississippi River and the Arch.  There is no time in our lives that we ever feel more rested and spoiled than after a stay at a Four Seasons.  I want to applaud you and all your amazing staff members for consistently making the Four Seasons Resorts the finest in the world!

I did notice something while we were staying in St. Louis though, that I wanted to bring to your attention.  I see that your hotels still offer “adult” entertainment in the room.  I’m disappointed by this, as I believe your company is forward thinking and wants to represent the very best for all people around the world.

I’m wondering if you are aware that the viewing of pornography in our country and in countries around the globe has a definite and direct correlation with the deplorable crime of sex trafficking and sex slavery of young girls, boys and women.

I am praying that you and your fellow board members would seriously take a look at this issue and see why Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton (among many others) have made the decision to get rid of pornography as a selection on the televisions in their guest rooms.

I urge you to not allow your incredible resorts to be associated, in any way,  with an industry that is directly connected to human trafficking and the slavery of hundreds of thousands (in very conservative estimates) of victims throughout the world.

A few of the worst countries, in terms of human trafficking, such as Thailand and Egypt and China, are the home to one or more Four Seasons.  I am certain that your employees in these locations are in some way affected, either directly or indirectly, by this dire world problem.

I’m a loving wife and mom of three, and the thought of what happens to enslaved girls and boys and women, every single hour of every single day,  keeps me up at night.  The problem is so absolutely gigantic, that  many of us wonder what we can possible do to change it.  I’ve decided that doing nothing at all will never change the problem.

I’m sending this letter with a prayer that you will seriously consider my words and take a public stand on this issue.  Obviously, if your company did decide to remove this type of entertainment from your hotels, it would have financial implications.  I’m certain though, that taking a stand for something so monumental and important as this, would be nothing but a benefit to your company and to each and every person associated with the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

If you care to read further on this issue, to see clear evidence of how viewing pornography directly impacts and increases the incidence of human trafficking, please visit fightthenewdrug.org and endsexualexploitation.org.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and for truly taking to heart this matter. I’d love to hear back from you at your convenience. God bless you and yours in 2016.

Sincerely,

DP

1 Peter 4:2-3  “And you won’t spend the rest of your life chasing after evil desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God.  You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy-their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols.”

To the readers of this blog:  Please watch the video below.  I applaud Angela for  having the courage to take a stand.  This terrible issue effects each and every one of us as we share this world and this life with one another.  We all must get involved for changes to take place and I hope this encourages you to take a stand also.  Blessings!
